On May 13th, the Finch Media team will be attending the YWCA Vancouver Women of Distinction Gala because we are proudly nominated for the YWCA Vancouver Outstanding Workplace award. Also nominated in our category are three other exceptional organizations: ACL, the Vancouver Airport Authority and Glotman Simpson Consulting Engineers.

This award has special meaning for the team at Finch Media because it honours companies that create inclusive, progressive workplaces, especially for women. This is something that Finch Media has strived to create from its inception. The central idea behind Finch Media was to create a marketing and PR agency in Vancouver that challenged the norms of traditional agencies and working environments. We wanted to attract talent who were tired of the often long and inflexible hours that come with the traditional model, where “facetime” matters more than work quality. We wanted to create a company culture that promoted inclusivity, diversity and the advancement of women. As a marketing and PR agency in Vancouver that is deadline-driven and results-orientated, we still look for ways to accommodate working parents and team members who need more flexibility.

Inclusive PR Agency Vancouver

In order to support inclusivity in the broader community, Finch Media also created a grant program called “Finch Media Creates”, which is currently supporting the Scarborough Pictures Episodic Directing Program. This inaugural television directing program was created to increase opportunities available for black, indigenous and people of colour filmmakers to direct episodic television. The recipients of this year’s directing program grant were filmmakers Isa Benn and Sherien Barsoum. As a PR agency in Vancouver, we are proud to support this inclusive directing program and look forward to what the future holds for Finch Media Creates.
